Dreandre Speaks has a different spin on “Growing Up Hip Hop”. Born in Memphis, Big Homie became Yo Gotti’s protege at the age of 14. He is also the cousin of Hip Hop Phenom, Money Bagg Yo. The only boy of his mother’s four children, Big Homie was loved by everyone. Breaking the typical mold, his dad is very present in his life. His life changed when his mom went prison. He dropped out of school to take care of his sisters despite one of them being older than him. He hit the streets. The only job someone his age could get to support his family. Like the tale of the infamous Jay Z, while on the corner he worked on his rhymes.

After about a year, his mother was released and he went back to his dream. He joined Yo Gotti on the road learning all he could about how to be an artist. But because he wasn’t making any money, he returned to Memphis and to selling drugs. He hated what he was doing and knew he had to make music work. With his cousin taking off, he knew he had a shot. Big Homie is everyone’s best friend. Despite his real life, gutter lyrics, he has a genuine spirit and infectious smile. Dreandre used his knowledge to get Joe Gotti to shoot a high quality video for $500. The “Official Deejay Turn Me Up” would score over 16k views. Under the moniker, Y Gizzle, Big Homie released Intro, Now and 223 which garnered over 600k views. A name he changed simply because another artist hit with it first. Soon after, Big Homie signed with NLess. With Money Bagg Yo already being affiliated, it made sense.
